MEet the growing TEAM:

William Vazquez - Founder / President / Board Member / Experience Creator

Hi everyone, my name is William Vazquez, founder of WeExploreEarth. I‘m Mexican Indigenous & was born in San Gabriel, California on the ancestral lands of the Gabrielino-Tongva. I grew up attending Gabrielino High School, yet never learned about the Tongva there, which opened my eyes to how often land, history, and stewardship are erased. Combined with watching nature get trashed, lack of help maintaining nature areas thriving & accessible, those early experiences deeply shaped my values.

I was raised by two hard-working Mexican immigrant parents and built a career in events, culture, and fundraising — working at Jimmy Kimmel Live and later producing events & festivals with Dim Mak Records and Insomniac Events. Those experiences shaped my work ethic, taught me how to build community, and ultimately led me to leave the film and music industries to answer a calling: to protect Mother Earth and build community around nature.

Today, I pour 70+ hours a week into WeExploreEarth because I believe in community, in protecting and preserving nature, and in building future stewards and explorers. My journey has connected me with tribal members and communities from the Gabrielino-Tongva, Apache Stronghold, Ohlone, Navajo, Chumash, and others who continue to inspire and guide our work. I believe all people on Earth are part of a shared human tribe, and I’m grateful for the close tribe of leaders and volunteers who help grow WeExploreEarth.

WeExploreEarth was created on Earth, for all people — to unite, explore, and protect. To support that mission, I created and trademarked A Tribe Called Earth as our cultural and visual message arm, amplifying awareness and stewardship through community, apparel, and creative work.

I’m honored to do this work, to learn from Indigenous communities, and to serve a growing movement of people answering a similar calling. Let’s continue to nurture Mother Earth and each other.  Carpe Diem, every day.

Yvonne Temal - Vice President / Lead of Women's Department / Board Member

Hi fam! I’m Yvonne Temal, Vice President of We Explore Earth and founder of Hiking on Purpose (WEE's Women's Department).

I'm a proud Latina born and raised in Orange County, California, to Mexican and Guatemalan parents who instilled in me a deep love for nature, adventure and community from a young age. Although it wasn’t until my 20's that I truly reconnected with the outdoors as a source of healing, that foundation shaped the path I (gratefully) walk today.

I’m the Head of the Women’s Department and one of the lead facilitators for We Explore Earth, where my passion for community building, wellness, and mental health through outdoor experiences runs deep. In 2015, I began leading women-only hikes throughout Orange County and Los Angeles, creating intentional spaces for connection, healing, and empowerment. That work grew into Hiking On Purpose, which has since merged with WEE and now lives on as our Women’s Department.

My heart is especially rooted in advocating for mental health awareness, chronic illness, wounded veterans, and the dignity, treatment, and well being of all people (and animals). I believe access to healing, nature, and belonging should never be a privilege, but a right.

Alongside the tribe, I’m committed to cultivating inclusive, brave, and welcoming spaces where people can reconnect with themselves, each other, and Mother Earth. I look forward to continuing to help We Explore Earth grow as a movement that empowers individuals to find strength, joy, and purpose through shared outdoor experiences and collective care.

Milana Bekbulatova - NYC Chapter Lead / Event Producer / Board Member

Hi! I’m Milana Bekbulatova, originally from Uzbekistan but raised in Brooklyn, New York!

I’ve loved nature since I was young, and am committed to raise awareness to climate issues and create community. I love bouldering, literature, travel- and anything to do with the outdoors! I have a background in marketing and teach english! I’ve always looked for ways to harbor community in such a big city, and that’s how I ended up finding WEE! I now lead the NYC chapter and get to host climb nights, community events, cleanups, and so much more to come! I look forward to creating opportunity for everyone, and giving back to the earth! Sustainability starts with everyone, and there is always a way to transform the world- ranging from your garden to your city!

Franscisco - Board / Adventure Team Member / Treasurer

My name is Francisco, a 50-year-old originally from Cuernavaca Mexico, currently living in Arizona for the past 23 years. I discovered my passion for the outdoors when I moved to Arizona. In 2019, I left everything behind and started my hiking sabbatical for two and a half years. Being outside recharges my soul, it makes me feel my body, emotions, and allows me to be myself. I learned to appreciate and cherish every moment and to never be afraid to push outside of my comfort zone. I learned about We Explore Earth (WEE) from a running group and I was immediately interested. WEE provides a safe and inclusive community for everyone to discover new passions, learn how to take care of Mother Earth, build community and be creative. My goal for this year is to continue to help the team enrich the experiences offered and fundraising. Join us on our next adventure and create lifetime memories with the #WEETRIBE.

Nicole Michel - Secretary / Trail Running Lead / Yogi / Events Team Member / Board Member

Hi there, I am Nicole! I was born and raised in various parts of Los Angeles. Being raised by a city dwelling mother and a ranch raised father, I had the duality mindset of finding beauty in everything outside - from local city parks to far out mountain trails and bike paths along coastlines. I believe that nature is all around us and not just in secluded places. This mindset creates a movement that experiencing outdoor activities is accessible for everyone! Which is  why I love being part of We Explore Earth. WEE truly has activities accessible to anyone and a variety of interests (and growing). My educational background, training, and personal experiences have led me to the path of passions I have grown over time. 2025, when I officially joined WEE, is when I gained the courage to begin sharing these passions of using movement for healing through leading trail runs regularly with WEE, and leading yoga experiences from time to time. I am still learning and still growing in the safe space with WEE - a community that encourages growth, together.

( Self-healer; mind-body connection enthusiast; holistic health advocate )

Michel González - Events / Life Coach / Board Member

I’m a life purpose coach dedicated to helping individuals fine-tune their voice, uncover truth in their experiences, and nurture both their bodies and past versions of themselves. Through my workshops, I guide people toward their highest self and empower them to live authentically. My journey has led me to collaborate with We Explore Earth, naturopathic healers, and embrace gardening as a way to honor all living things—learning from nature’s lessons of love, growth, persistence, and strength.

Nature has shown me that anything is possible. That’s why summiting mountains and backpacking aren’t just hobbies—they’re a way of life. I share wellness tips, medicinal herbs, and inspiring stories through my podcast, creating spaces for others to connect deeply with themselves and Mother Earth. My mission is to inspire transformation, adventure, and purpose. See you on the trails, where the journey begins!

Aria Middleman - Team Member / Social Media Director / Experience Coordinator

My name is Aria Middleman, I’m 27 years old, and I was born/raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I work in digital media full time, so that means I spend a lot of time on screens. Going on hikes, spending time outdoors, and bonding with the outdoors community, in a state that is still relatively new to me, has changed my life for the good. I am passionate about environmentalism and sustainability, and community volunteer service has been a recent passionate discovery of mine. I look forward to doing even more in the years to come! I have a long way to go and much more to learn, but I’m stoked for this next chapter with We Explore Earth! Vamos!

John Obregon - Board Member / Outdoors Lead / Program Coordinator

Hey everyone! I’m Jon Obregon, 31 years old, born and raised in South El Monte, California. I’ve been around We Explore Earth almost since the very beginning, and it’s been amazing to watch it grow into the vibrant community it is today. I’m a certified naturalist with a serious love for adventure—traveling, hiking, off-roading, camping, and fishing just about anywhere you can imagine: deep sea, beach, mountain lakes, creeks, even fly fishing. If there’s water and a rod, I’m there!

What excites me most about WEE is helping people connect with nature and each other. Whether it’s sharing tips on fishing, exploring trails, or just enjoying the outdoors, I love helping others experience the magic of the natural world. I’m thrilled to be part of a team that’s all about adventure, learning, and building a stronger community around the things we love most—nature and each other.

Bryan Rosas - Team Member / Marketing Team / Event Coordinator

Hello! I’m Bryan Rosas, 30 years old and born and raised in beautiful Ventura County. My love for the outdoors stems from when mom and I would ride bikes to the beach from our home. Later, I began exploring local riverbeds with my dogs and going on hikes with friends. Recently, my love for the outdoors and community has grown exponentially since my time volunteering with We Explore Earth. When I am in nature with a strong community, I am reminded of how beautiful it is to live on this planet. My goal is to reignite the passion in others to pursue community through environmentalism. We often forget that we are a part of nature and her ecosystem; it is important to remind ourselves that we are stronger as one.

Being in community, to me, means belonging to something bigger: a shared family of humans, animals, plants, and Mother Earth. I love building this ecosystem through the things that make us feel most alive and connected, like hiking through the woods, running free, moving through yoga and dance, and exploring with spirit. It’s my hope that we'll all grow stronger, softer, and more human together <3

Hello everyone,

My name is Narek Aghajanyan. I’m 33 years old, born in Yerevan, Armenia, and raised in Los Angeles. I’m honored to be one of the main leads for We Explore Earth. My passion for nature began in childhood when my father first introduced me to the nearby mountain ranges. From that moment on, I was captivated by the beauty, stillness, and power of the natural world. Those early experiences shaped not only my love for the outdoors, but also my desire to share it with others.

Today, my goal is to be a driving force within WEE—helping build a community rooted in exploration, respect for nature, and genuine human connection. Giving back through outdoor experiences, education, and adventure is at the heart of what I hope to contribute.

I look forward to doing my part alongside the tribe to help our community reconnect with Mother Nature through the experiences our team provides.

Eric Andino - Team Member / Outdoors Lead / Experience Coordinator

Hello, My name is Erick Andino.  I'm 42 y/o and proud L.A native. 1st generation of my family to be born here. From life's battles and traumas I have found my church in nature and see being outside submerged in nature is like walking through our creators living art gallery. There is adventure,  healing,  connection out there so thats where I like to be when possible. I love WEE because it encompasses all that is nature. From getting outside, cleaning it and protecting it. Knowledge of the original people that walked and called these lands home long before any of us did.

My love for art, nature, and healing fused together and birthed @the.slow.downs - my sacred healing space where I embrace slowdowns, connect with one’s self and others, pause to reflect, and express one’s inner world. My vision is to continue to create a community that incorporates slowdowns in different spaces promoting healing, mental health awareness, and advocacy. I will continue to be the instrument of healing - listening to that heart, one beat at a time.

The vastness of nature for me is very humbling - reminding us to immerse in its beauty, to face ourselves, be in the moment, heal, reflect and sort through the murkiest parts of our minds, recharge, and feel inspired.

My mission for the team is to help introduce, support, and nurture the love of the outdoors to individuals and communities with limited access to or knowledge about these extremely beautiful, powerful, and sacred spaces. Diana Gonzalez - Team Member / Experience Coordinator / Outdoors Lead

Hi! My name is Diana Gonzalez, 44 years old, born and raised in the SGV. My passion for hiking began in my mid 20’s. I was constantly taking photos on my hikes totally unaware of the plants and animals that were right in front of me. That prompted me to take the docent training class at Eaton Canyon in 2012 which sparked my love for the native plants. From there I became more motivated to get into backpacking and ended up taking the Wilderness Travel Course in 2016. The skills I learned from that class have been so invaluable on my many hikes, camping trips and backpacking trips. I am very passionate about taking care of the land and for the last three years have been part of two different trail maintenance crews helping to restore and care for trails on a weekly basis. WEE became part of my life early in 2025 when I attended a Mojave camping experience with the group. Such an amazing group of supportive generous people. After that I knew that I wanted to volunteer with this group and to be able to share my knowledge however I can to help such an awesome group!

Vanessa Alcala - Team Member / Experience Coordinator

Drawn to the hidden language of the Earth, I wander forests in search of mushrooms, study the wisdom of herbs, and practice permaculture as an act of devotion to natures cycles. Teaching our future generations the way of the tribe and building inclusive communities is my hearts joy.
